Nutcracker Auditions
Saturday August 29th:
* Level 3B: 9:00-9:45AM
*Level 4,5,6: 10:00-11:45AM (pointe included)
Saturday September 12th:
*Level Pre Ballet & Level 1: 9:00-9:45AM
*Level 2A/B & 3A: 10:00-11:00AM
$25 Audition Fee, cash for all dancers.
Please complete the Audition Form online PRIOR to attending the audition.
PERFORMANCE DATES: December 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20
All dancers must be available for all scheduled performance dates.
PARENT MEETING (for dancers Ballet Petite through Level 3A or those new to Nutcracker) - Friday September 11 @ 6:00PM @DPA.
AUDITION INFORMATION
- Audition Fee is $25 cash at the time of audition. The audition form must be filled out prior to auditions. See red button above
-Boys between the ages of 7-10 may be considered for the Party Scene without auditioning. Please email ka******@******************ts.com if interested.
-Auditions are ballet style, followed by a pointe audition for those who qualify.
ATTIRE & ARRIVAL
-Dancers must be in proper ballet attire including leotard, tights, and ballet shoes with hair in proper ballet bun. Boys in a white t-shirt, black leggings, black ballet shoes (if you have them). Level 4, 5, 6 dancers should bring character shoes. Level 5 & 6 bring pointe shoes (if applicable.)
-Arrive times for self warm-up are as follows:
- 15 min prior - Ballet Petite & Level 1
- 30 min prior - Level 2A/B, 3A/B
- 45 min prior - Level 4, 5 & 5
CASTING
Casting is determined at the discretion of the Directors and is based on a variety of factors, including technical ability, performance quality, maturity, rehearsal availability, stage presence, and training at DPA or other dance programs. Costume availability and sizing are also important considerations in the casting process.
While we strive to provide as many performance opportunities as possible, not every dancer who auditions is guaranteed a role.
ATTENDANCE AND COMMITMENT
Attendance at all scheduled rehearsals and regularly enrolled ballet classes is required. Dancers must be enrolled in ballet classes at Duvall Performing Arts throughout the Nutcracker season (September-December).
Regular rehearsals are held on Fridays from 3:30-7:30pm and Saturdays from 8:00am–2:00pm. As we get closer to performance weekend, Saturday rehearsals may extend until 4:00pm. Beginning in late October, there may also be select Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon rehearsals as needed.
