Dream, Perform, Achieve

Preschool Program

Duvall Performing Arts is committed to encouraging dancers of all levels and abilities to strive for excellence through the art of dance. Our newly acquired larger facility allows us to match this desire with our long awaited dream to prepare preschoolers through an arts enriched program.  DPA’s Preschool is the only program of its kind in our community, combining academic preschool education with music, visual arts, creative movement, and personal expression into a 2-3.5 hour learning experience for the 3-5 year old.

Our mission at Duvall’s Performing Arts Preschool is to support families in preparing their child socially, emotionally, and academically for Kindergarten by nurturing their creativity and guiding their learning experiences in our arts enriched program.

The teachers and staff of DPAP believe that every child has the capacity to learn and grow through adult instruction, peer modeling, and free exploration.  We also believe that a student learns best when both their brain and body is actively engaged. That may be dancing through our ABC’s or hopping when counting by 2’s. We believe that a curriculum focused on utilizing the Multiple Intelligences (see chart below) will provide a fun and well-balanced introduction to school for your young learner. Our Performing Arts Preschool enables children to engage their imaginations and develop their own sense of artistic creativity through song, dance, visual arts, and self-expression. We know it takes a village to raise a child and we are honored to team with parents to create a safe, encouraging, and stimulating environment for your young learner to gain independence and prepare for Kindergarten. Our desire is to prepare the “whole” child, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically for their next steps in life and help them to SHINE!

Tara Orman:
Director and Lead Teacher (photo coming soon!)

Tara’s love of teaching started in elementary school where she often visited the classroom of students with special needs to sit and visit during lunchtime. Her other love was dance that she started at the age of 2 and continued all through her schooling years where she competed and traveled for dance in ballet, tap, jazz, and pointe. While attending Northern Arizona University for her dual major in Elementary and Special Education, she taught ballet at the community center and continued to dance for enjoyment. Tara has taught in 3 different states in a variety of settings in the public school system. She’s taught in the districts preschool room for students with special needs and peer models, conducted assessments for 3 year olds entering the school district needing special services, conducted home visits for elementary aged children whose special needs kept them at home, served children with special needs their IEP goals and objectives in their Head Start and ECEAP programs, and was the Special Education Director for an Arts based Charter School in Mesa, AZ for elementary to eighth grade students. Tara and her husband and four kids have called Duvall home for the last 12 years and Tara has enjoyed teaching for five years at the Duvall Cooperative Preschool and now teaching at DPA, ballet, tap, jazz, creative movement and the parent/tot class. She also loves to spend time as an Art Docent in her children’s classrooms as well as crochet, hike, and walk her dog Smore with her husband in the evenings. Tara is SO excited to help DPA bring its Arts Based Preschool to life for the 2018 school year!!
