Young Ones

PARENT & TOT – ages 1-2 yrs + Parent/Guardian
This class is a wonderful introduction to the art of dance. Bring your tiny dancer(s) and enjoy new forms of movement and play in a safe and fun environment.
(30 min/week)


TINY TOTS – ages 2-3 yrs
This is for toddlers who want to play, dance, & move to music! It enhances large motor skills and body awareness. This is not a Parent & Tot class, it is for toddlers who are ready for a 30 min/week class without a parent. Parent must remain at DPA while child is in class.


MINI MOVERS – ages 3-4 yrs
An imaginative introduction to dance, music, & rhythm. This class introduces both ballet and tap movements. Strength, flexibility, & balance develop through skipping, leaping, & galloping! (45 min/week) Parent must remain at DPA while child is in class.


BALLET PETITE – ages 5-6 yrs
Introduction to classical ballet, with ballet vocabulary & movement patterns. Encouraging creativity, body flexibility and self-confidence through dance.
(45min/week)

Youth Division

BALLET 1 – ages 7-8 yrs
Building basic ballet technique and expanding ballet vocabulary. Growing in flexibility, strength, & discipline. Ballet 1 students are encouraged to also take Jazz 1.
Level 1A – Beginner

Level 1B – Some prior experience
(1 hr/week)


BALLET 2 – ages 8-10 yrs (8 yr olds must have taken Ballet 1 or equivalent)
Building ballet technique and skills. Higher level of sequencing, turns & allegro (jumps) is introduced. Ballet 2 students are strongly encouraged to also take Jazz 2. Mini-Company Performance Division dancers are required to take Ballet 2B, Jazz 2, & Conditioning 2/3.
Level 2A – Beginner (1 hr/week)
Level 2B – Some prior experience
(2 hrs/week)
Ballet 2B + Jazz 2 + Conditioning 2/3
(3.5 hrs/week)


BALLET 3 – ages 9-11 yrs (9-10 yr olds must have taken Ballet 2 or equivalent)
Building ballet technique and skills to a higher degree. Ballet 3 students are required to take Jazz 3 & Conditioning 2/3. Students will benefit from specific muscle development for preparing to go on pointe.

Advanced Division

BALLET 4 – ages 12-18 yrs *teacher placement
Students who want to take Ballet 4 must meet age and skill requirements. Ballet 4 students are required to take Jazz 4 & Contemporary 4. Additional Classes such as Pointe, Hip Hop, & Tap are optional, but highly encouraged.
Ballet 4 + Jazz 4 + Contemporary 4

BALLET 5 – ages 12-18 yrs *teacher placement

Performance Division

Advanced performing group, must meet PD requirements to qualify. Audition with DPA Director for placement
Petite Company, Mini Company, Junior Company, Senior Company (Regular classes + Friday/Saturday rehearsals)

Additional Classes

CONTEMPORARY
This is an expressive style of dance that combines elements of modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. It is a required class for our Ballet level 4 & 5 students.
Contemporary 4 – ages 12-18 (must also be in Ballet 4)
Contemporary 5 – ages 12-18 (must also be in Ballet 5)


HIP HOP
This is a high-energy dance style incorporating street dancing & improvisation, with new combinations introduced regularly and built upon. Instructors use current dance styles as seen in music videos & concerts.
Hip Hop Minions – ages 5-6
Hip Hop 4 – ages 12-18
Hip Hop 1 – ages 7-8
Hip Hop 5 – ages 12-18 *teacher placement
Hip Hop 2 – ages 8-10 (8 yr olds must have taken HH1)
Hip Hop 3 – ages 9-11 (9-10 yr olds must have taken HH2)


JAZZ
With a strong technical foundation, Jazz is a dance style most often seen in movies, TV, concerts, and on Broadway. Jazz reflects pop culture while helping to broaden a dancer’s versatility. Students will build flexibility, strength, and style.
Level 1 – ages 7-8
Level 4 – ages 12-18 (must also be in Ballet 4)
Level 2 – ages 8-10 *required for Ballet 2B students
Level 5 – ages 12-18 (must also be in Ballet 5)
Level 3 – ages 9-11 *required for Ballet 3 students


  • TAP
    A fun & energetic class focusing on classical & modern tap technique. Dancers will focus on musicality, clarity, speed, & technique. Each level builds on the previous level, developing accuracy and speed. Our Jazzy Tappers start with Jazz rhythms then move to Tap, making it one of our most popular classes!
    Jazzy Tappers (Jazz/Tap) – ages 5-6
    Tap 1 – ages 7-9

Tap 2 – ages 9-11
Tap 3 – ages 11-18 *teacher placement
Tap 4 – ages 10-18 *teacher placement  Tap 5 – ages 12-18 *teacher placement


TRIPLE THREAT
This class teaches students how to communicate characters and stories through their body expression, dance movements, and improvisation. It combines musical theatre style dance using advanced rhythms and fast pacing with acting and singing (solos & chorus) just like you would see with Broadway shows. Music/dance numbers/scenes taken from popular musicals. (Equal focus on all three disciplines: dancing, singing, acting)
Mini-Triple Threat – ages 5-7
Triple Threat – ages 8-10
Triple Threat/Middle School – ages 11-14

Open Program

Our Open Program is designed for dancers who prefer to take class in a more relaxed environment or do not have the time to take the full line-up of classes. They are designed for beginning and intermediate dancers for students 12 yrs old & older. All classes will be taught with multi-level progressions and combinations. 


Suggested attire: fitted top with leggings (Teen Ballet: any color leotard with pink tights), pink split-sole Ballet shoes, black Oxford-style Tap shoes, or black slip-on Jazz shoes.
-Adult Mat (.5hrs/week), Adult Ballet, Adult Pilates, Open Teen Dance
